~  Antonio Berni (1905-1981)  ~

Antonio Berni was an Argentinian artist, who began his career with study in Spain and Paris. His early paintings show the influence of Giorgio de Chirico. In the early 1930s, Berni met David Alfaro Siqueiros and became interested in Social Realism. Later in the 1930s Berni transitioned to more of a classical approach, yet over the next four decades his oeuvre transitioned among a number of styles including Expressionism, Social Realism and Magic Realism.
