       Felix Vallotton (1865-1925) was Swiss-born artist became a member of Les Nabis in 1892. At the turn of the century Vallotton shifted to a cool, detached realism. He admired the paintings of the great Masters, especially Hans Holbein, Albrecht Dürer and Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres. His hard-edged, somewhat austere style served as a precursor to Die Neue Sachlichkeit.
